No need to cut him...KC can still trade him, if not this season (I don't know if he cleared waivers), then in the offseason. Other organizations still like his stuff, so he could probably fetch a mid-level prospect, provided he doesn't continue to completely implode.
It just irks me so damned much when a freaking major league pitcher can't make a damned throw to a base. I get pissed when MacDougal does it, and today's throw by Affeldt just enraged me.
Once the game is out of Howell's hands, then I don't see how Affeldt blowing the game would ruin Howell's confidence.
All Howell needs to know is that he held the Yanks to three runs in six innings. He did his job. That's nothing but a confidence booster, if you ask me.
4 walks, 3 strikeouts in 6 innings hardly qualifies as a Cy Young performance. Howell is still a very shaky pitcher, as are all of the young guys. I love the potential of Sisco and Burgos, but they make me nervous. They just don't have good control, not that I would expect it from two very young kids just out of A ball.
The thing I hate about Affeldt is no matter the situation, he always walks someone. That's infuriating.

lol...nice pic.
I honestly think the team needs to make a statement, & cut him. TODAY.
And from now on, I'm refering to him only as Jeremy Awfuldt...just like I'm calling our SS Angel Berr0-2a.

I know, it'd be smarter to trade him...right now, though, I want someone's head on a platter. lol.
Hard to believe Awfuldt was ever in the running for the closer slot.

Dave - I hope Guy & some of the other coaches are drilling that very thought into JP's head right about now.
Everytime Affeldt is in the game, he gives up at least a run or two...I cringe every time I see he's in there.
